Examples of Squarespace Websites That Rank On Google Page 1

When it comes to a good-looking Squarespace site that ranks well on Google to really help grow your business or brand, two main factors come into play:

1. customization

2. and expert SEO.

As a Squarespace web designer, I use only one template (Pedro) to build out all of my sites. I revert this template to a blank canvas, and then design a fully custom website from the framework up. This ensures the sites I build don’t look like a template that anyone could have pasted their content onto.

The next factor—SEO— is the real game-changer, though. It isn’t too difficult to produce a beautiful website using the Squarespace platform. I see exquisite websites built using Squarespace all the time, and many of us have built our entire web design profession using this platform alone.

But what I don’t see often are designers getting those gorgeous websites to rank well on Google, so that they actually get seen by the target audiences, and serve as real investments to the client.

I have a suspicion that this is a big reason the myth has perpetuated that “Squarespace isn’t good for SEO.” In my experience, this isn’t true at all. The websites I design for my clients rank on Google page 1 sometimes as soon as 2-3 months after launching (using organic SEO alone, no paid advertising).

Let’s look at some examples of the Squarespace websites I’ve built for clients that rank on Google Page 1.

sissy + lou

Sissy + Lou is a wedding, engagement, maternity, and family photography business based in Seattle (which is a highly competitive market).

If you search for the keywords ‘adventure maternity photography seattle’ and ‘queer wedding photographer seattle’ on Google, you’’ll find Sissy + Lou in the Page 1 results. In such a competitive market, it’s important to locate keywords that niche you down even further within your overall niche. This helps the site get noticed long before major and very competitive keywords like ‘seattle wedding photographer’ and ‘maternity photography seattle’ are finally ranked for (though Sissy + Lou is sneaking up even then, currently on Page 3).

Tentrax

Tentrax is a company specializing in utility trailers for adventure. They offer on-road, off-road, and cargo trailers that can be attached to your vehicle for exploration and fun.

I designed their site for them in 2019, and right now they’re ranking on Google Page 1 for the keywords: jeep cargo trailer, off road trailer kit, and overland cargo trailer.

*If the client were to blog using the topics I provided, their rankings would improve substantially.

Spera Special Events

Spera Special Events is a luxury wedding and event planning company in New Orleans, USA.

I designed this website in 2019, and right now it’s ranking on Google Page 1 for the keywords: new orleans luxury wedding planner (#1 spot on Page 1!), NOLA luxury event planner, and NOLA wedding planners.

*This client has done a little blogging, but still has not created posts for all of the topics I recommended, which would improve ranking even moreso.

STICKS 2 STONES DESIGN

Sticks 2 Stones Design is a company that designs, builds, and installs unique custom cabinets in the Knoxville, TN region. Their work is truly impressive, and I wanted to build a website to really highlight and showcase the quality they uphold.

The site went live at the end of 2019, and is already ranking on Google Page 1 for the following keywords: kitchen designers knoxville tn, custom cabinets knoxville, knoxville kitchen remodel, knoxville cabinet company, custom cabinet makers knoxville tn, and amish cabinets knoxville.

*This client is not even utilizing the blog feature for optimal SEO, so instead I used all of their individual projects as a method of increasing organic SEO, in much the same way a blog would.

It’s worth mentioning that these sites could be ranking on Page 1 for more search terms that I’m not tracking.
